Hello Pacers:
Have you ever thought about what goes on at the finish line?? Have you ever wondered how those results are tabulated? What happens to those tabs that everyone hollers for you to pull?? Do you like to learn new things??

Every Spring a committee convenes to find and nominate folks for Pacer Board positions. This year's committee has been most diligent in finding 2006-2007 board members..... BUT...

We are still looking for one position that has proved difficult to fill. That is the results/registration person. This person does the results ON RACE DAY as well as is in charge of entering data on race day. Jane Givens was the board person in charge this year and along with Peggy Olive, has been doing this very important task. Jane is stepping down from board duties this year and we need to find someone to do this. Peggy cannot shoulder this responsibility alone. This board member will have many helpers with the pre-race preparation. There have been several Pacers who have been helping and are willing to help get the pre-race registration entered along with getting the packets prepared.

So we are looking for a good volunteer or volunteers. Actually having more than one person would even be better. The two of you could switch off and take turns. YOu will have the honor of Peggy Olive to train you. She is quite knowledgable in the program that is used...furthermore she will continue to do results for the Charity 10K and ATR.

The kicker for this position is that an important part of the duties occurs DURING the race. I know people join a running/walking club to do that very thing. However, please think about this. The duties are listed below. Again it is important to understand that THE PERSON doesn't have to do every thing on this list itself, however it is under their supervision. There is a very efficient team of folks have been doing pre-race prep and others to help and dying to meet YOU.

Enter data for race (assign numbers, etc...)
Get packets ready
Get supplies ready for race day\

DAY of RACE duties below:
Race day data entry
Get timers started
Have timer for direct and select times (the people clicking the little buttons when you cross - I often do this :-) )
Printing/Posting the results (think of the power you will have! So many new friends!)
Packing away all of the timing devices and other assorted doo-dads and thingamajigs
Printing out reports of the race
Reporting at the board meetings

If you are potentially interested, I will send you a more official looking list of duties that Peggy Olive wrote. She did not use the words "doo-dad" or "thingamajig" a single time! Also, we are having the Bull Dog Run this weekend and you could actually see it all happen in real time.

Please email me at srog1@earthlink.net Thank you in advance.
