Vincent Rono a junior won the NCAA championship for 1500 meters at Sacramento State in California. In the semis he set a school record of 3:40 for the distance. He is now the only USA athlete to win an NCAA championship in outdoor track. His winning time on Saturday was 3:44. Behind by 30 meters with 200 meters to go he used his patented finishing speed to catch the FSU athlete at the tape.
