If you don't bring your own motivation, all the coaching in the world can't help you.

When a coach tells you to 'Shut Up and Run' they are usually telling you to stop yakking about what you're going to do and 'Just Do It'

Coaches can provide a valuable view into your training. They give you a perspective not your own that can break cycles of Paralysis by Analysis. Basically, a guide to help plan out how you can achieve the goals you set for yourself.

It is not necessary to have a coach; there are books, magazines, web sites, forums, blogs, etc. that can give you any kind of information you want about training.

Each person needs to decide for themselves what will help most in achieving a positive experience from their sport and go with it.
