Hello folks: At packet pickup you will get your chip and to confirm it you can just wave your envelope with the chip inside to confirm that your chip is assigned to you.
In the PaceLetter I only suggested bringing your shoes so you could put your chip on it right there if you were worried about forgetting to do it in the morning...
It is not a requirement to have the chip on your shoes to confirm your chip. Sorry for the confusion.
