The last two wet years have caused a proliferation of fire ant nests along the road where I run. The little devils crawl up on tall grass stems and when I have to get off the road for a car they get on my legs and immediately bite.
Jean and I have found that if we apply ice directly to the bites for about five minutes that it greatly relieves the itching and burning although you still end up with a pustule it never itches very much.
