I'm a tad confused by a portion of your post.....referring to the Azalea Trail Run(?) as a 27K. The race is actually a 10K or 6.2 miles.
At any rate, I think you will find many options for running 5Ks and fun runs in this area over the upcoming Spring months.....one in particular you may want to check out is the Joe Cain 5K which will be held on Feb. 14th...an excellent "warm-up" leading into the ATR.
