Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie broke the world record in the Berlin Marathon today with a time of 2 hours, 4 minutes, 26 seconds. I'm kind of sad because I'm such a big fan of Paul Tergat, but apparently the two are close friends. I knew Haile was in shape to do it. Tergat called him immediately afterward to congratulate him and Haile apologized to his friend for breaking the record. Tergat would have none of it saying records are made to be broken.
