The Just Run Fun Run, Children's Festival and Health Fair will be held Saturday April 24th at Medal of Honor (Cottage Hill) Park.
The run is open to everyone (adults encouraged to participate), however the awards structure is for the kids!! For children 12 and under: top 3 overall boy and girl. Top 3 boy and girl in age groups; 10-12, 7-9, 4-6, and 3 and under. The run starts at 9 am. Day of race registration will be 7:30 - 8:30 am ($10). Pre-registration is $8, Groups (schools, churches, clubs, organizations)is $6. Registered runners receive a t-shirt and "goodie bag". Entry forms avliable at Chandler and Downtown YMCA and at Smart Coast web site. You may also get entry form and pre-register at McCoys Outdoors up to Thursday 4/22/10 noon.
The Festival and Health fair includes food (hot dogs, fruit, ice cream, beverages), Live entertainment, face painting, health education (USA,Lung Assoc, Child Advocacy), Safe City-a hands on little town with bikes an go-carts to teach traffic safety, STOMP dance demo, Soccer skill assistance by Mobile Futbol members....just to name a few.
The singing of the National Anthem (by Miss Univ of South Al)and presentation of the colors will be at 8:50 am in the area of the football field, everyone will be led to the start line by Azalea Trail Maids.
The run goes around the perimeter of the park and is approximately 1 mile (not certified). Times will be called out at finish line.
