The race director is basically the person in charge of everything related to putting on a race. From permits, t-shirts and awards, to the post-race party (food, drinks, etc.). The race director usually will do things to promote the race as well, such as the Pacer Report radio spot on WNSP the week of the race. Some races go towards a cause and the race director can also choose to obtain sponsorship money to help increase the Pacer donation to the cause. I'm sure I am missing some important things here but off the top of my head, this is what a race director does.
