When the PCP board met Tues to set the schedule, several points were made to make this year's races a success. Race Coordinator Kenny pointed out the two largest issues getting in the way, #1 was Races without race directors, #2 was "designated course marshals". In regards to #1. -Race without Race Directors-(donate at Rw/o RD.org) the Hurricane is the 1st 5K up and is without leadership. We need someone to buck up (Victor where'd that lingo come from?). And #2 refers to dividing up course people to take one or two races since we can't get someone to take the permanent position. If you can help with the course duties, please commit yourself to the PCP institution. Yes because you're crazy. If you can help, we'd take that one commitment, but would really like it if you chose one more from the calendar, since you'll be a veteran. We have one crazy for the Turkey and the Chick is covered. We'd like to plug the other holes ASAP. If you'd do the RD role, we have an outline to follow with time tables and mentors to follow. Course marshal is a board member so you can have input at the meetings. Course committees would divide the duties which includes-loading truck, getting the truck there, unloading, marking course, water stops supplies, finish line set, load, and getting truck back. That may seem like a lot but if done by a couple of people is not all that bad. It would be a great relief to know we have each covered prior to getting into the season.
One thing else, think about your friends and neighbors.Would they like to get out and meet new people? We have so many volunteers who have helped and realize they have a new social group to interact.
