I had the privilege of telling Stone Smith's (who is 6) parents that their son is now the 5k State Record holder for male age 6. They had no idea! He beat the old record by 2 minutes on multiple occasions (ran a 23:06 at the funky monkey). His father states that he does not train, and that he just runs the races (I think he has ran 3 or 4 this year, and pretty much his whole life). His father also told me that Stone will be running the 10k at the ATR in which that record is 49:05 for a 6 year old and has stood since 1987.. It will be exciting to see if he can break it.. Also makes me wonder how many people out there break records and do not realize it..
