Get a pair of barefoot minimalist shoes and teach yourself to run in them over time (few weeks) until your feet adapt to them. They are much lighter, the muscles in your feet will strengthen naturally. You won't have to worry about shoes with excessive heel cushion or unecessary support ever again.

Just my advice, but it works for me....and there are studies that you can read that back it up...
