The Hoot Scoot 5K Prediction Run will offer a different sort of challenge to runners in Fairhope on Friday. The race will not go to the fastest, but the most accurate.

The runners who most closely predict their finish times will be declared the winners for this race, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Fairhope Public Library. There also is a 1-mile fun run - no prediction required - that starts at 6:33 p.m. Friday.

The race benefits the Fairhope Public Library Foundation.

Runners can register online until midnight Wednesday. Runners also can register at the Windmill Market in Fairhope from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8 to 10 a.m. Friday.

The postrace party will be held on the back lawn of the Fairhope Public Library, featuring food, beverages and music by Ground Level Fall.

The five male and five female runners who finish closest to their predicted times will be honored during the postrace party. The fastest three male and fastest three female runners also will be recognized.

In the Infirmary Twilight Duathlon, athletes will have to do more than run. The race includes a 2-mile run followed by a 10-mile biking segment before concluding with another 2-mile run.

The race starts at 5 p.m. Saturday at ProHealth Fitness Center in Mobile. There's also a 2-mile fun run.

The event benefits the E.A. Roberts Alzheimer's Center.

Participants can register online until midnight Thursday.

The duathlon event includes a health and wellness expo from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at ProHealth Fitness Center, featuring free health screenings. Race participants are encouraged to pick up race packets during the expo and enjoy a pasta dinner.

Race-day registration will be held starting at 3 p.m.

The postrace party is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

The Providence United Methodist Church Catfish Chase 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Spanish Fort church. There's also a 1-mile fun run.

The race benefits the church's Relay for Life team.

Runners can register at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays and online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the church.

The postrace party will include catfish plates, fruit, beverages and door prizes.

The Ram Run 10K and 5K will be held at the University of Mobile at 8 a.m. Saturday. The Big Muddy 10K includes trails while the 5K is a pavement run.

Organized by the University of Mobile Alumni Association, the event benefits UM.

Runners can registration online through midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m.

Beverages and food will be provided after the race.

The Set Your Pace 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Sunday on the intramural fields at the University of South Alabama.

The event benefits the American Heart Association and Ozanam Charitable Pharmacy.

Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Thursday or online until midnight Thursday. Race-day registration will be held at the SGA Pavilion at USA's intramural fields from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

Food and beverages will be provided after the race.
