In his post below, Will mentions the Catfish Chase 5K. This race will be held this Saturday, April 27th, at 8:00 a.m. Day of race registration is from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. The course is a USATF certified out-and-back course in the beautiful rural area north of the Eastern Shore Shopping Center. All registrants receive a running cap and our famous catfish plate plus fruit, cookies, beverages, and more. Awards will be given three deep in five year age groups. The top overall male and female finishers will receive $25.00 gift certificates from Coastal Outfitters.
We will have a one mile fun run immediately following the 5K and prizes will be given to the top three boy and girl finishers (12 and under for prizes, although everyone is welcome to participate).
There are numerous door prizes which will be given out during the awards ceremony to registered runners. Door prizes include jewelry, entries to the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, Crescent Theatre passes, Hot Wheels Skating Rink packages, gift bags and gift certificates, and more.
The race, which is sponsored by Providence United Methodist Church, benefits our Relay for Life team. Our church has raised over $56,000.00 in the past six years for Relay for Life and we hope to increase our donation this year.

To get to the church from Mobile, take I-10 east and exit at the Daphne/Spanish Fort/Malbis Plantation Parkway exit. Turn left (north) and go past the Eastern Shore Center to the intersection of Hwy. 31 and Hwy 181. Proceed through the light at Hwy 31 and continue north for about two miles until you arrive at the church (right hand side of the road).
