Judging by the running calendar, the Memorial Day Weekend is a holiday for relaxing, not racing.

There is the Running for Rosie 5K, which will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) at Municipal Park in Mobile.

Organized by Black Women on the Run, the event benefits the American Heart Association.

There's a 1-mile fun run associated with the event, too.

Runners can register at McCoy Outdoor and Run-N-Tri in Mobile and Running Wild in Fairhope until noon Friday or online until midnight Friday. Race-day registration will be held from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. at the park's amphitheater.

Food and beverages will be provided after the race.

For those who want to relax and run, the Color Run, an untimed 5K during which you will be doused with colored corn starch, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Wharf in Orange Beach.

The Coastal Baldwin Educational Enrichment Foundation, an organization that works to enhance the opportunities for students in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, is the designated charity for the Color Run and will receive a portion of the proceeds.

Registration is taking place online. Registration ends at midnight Wednesday.
