Indeed, if one of my friends hadn't sustained a broken nose in the swim and not one but two bike crashes that resulted in blood, bruises and broken equipment, I probably wouldn't have said anything. Think back to the outrage many of us felt after Annette's crash at GrandMan . . . it's that and more over how the WTC organizers structure their races.
But I don't mean to detract from the accomplishments of all our friends. It's a fantastic accomplishment. I just want to make my uninitiated friends aware of what they are getting themselves into should they decide to follow in the footsteps of these incredible people and sign up for a WTC Ironman race. There are alternatives to the WTC.
