All those who want to, go right ahead. In fact, wait until just after Mardi Gras when all of the trash that once lined the streets gets washed out into it. Might be a good way to get your hands on a few extra beads and moonpies. Go giggin' while you're at it. Maybe, if you are lucky, you can gig a flounder, wearing beads, and a moonpie at the same time.
