To be a sanctioned race and to comply with insurance, headphones are officially not allowed. That said, many people run with headphones and as a rule we do not have the capability to physically remove a runner for wearing headphones unless our insurance carrier or the police require us to do so in the future. For safety reasons, we discourage it. I know many runners disagree but headphones are a distraction and reduce a runner's ability to hear traffic, dogs, near-by runners, etc. Runners should consider this not only in races but especially when running alone. I will not remove you from the race if you are wearing headphones.
