The Grand Prix is a competition open only to current PCP members. The first thing that is done when a Grand Prix race is scored is to check each person to see if he/she is a paid up Pacer member. The age divisions for Male and Female are as follows:
| Division | Ages | Places |
| Youth | 0 - 15 | 3 |
| Open | 16 - 39 | 12 |
| Masters | 40 - 49 | 10 |
| Grandmasters | 50 - 59 | 10 |
| Great Grandmasters | 60 - 69 | 7 |
| Legends | 70 and up | 3 |
| Race Walkers | all ages | 3 |
Points are scored inversely to finish, for example the first Open finisher in a Grand Prix race gets 12 points, second gets 11, and so on down to Twelfth getting 1 point. Points scored in all the Grand Prix races are added up to get the Final Grand Prix Standings and awards are given out at our Annual Pacer Cookout after the Chicksabogue 2 Miler at Chickasabogue Park, the second Tuesday in August. Competitors must have competed in at least five Grand Prix Races in order to be eligible for an award.
If a person's birthday moves her/him to the next age group during the season, then he/she remains in the lower age group if points had been scored in the lower age group.
If a runner feels that he/she has not been scored correctly in a Grand Prix event then he/she must appeal before the end of the month in which the results appeared in the newsletter, otherwise the results are final.
The Azalea Trail Run is not a Grand Prix Race but it is used to settle ties in the Final Grand Prix Standings. For instance, in 2000/2001 Joey Warner and Ron Goodwin tied for first in the Male Open. Since Joey finished ahead of Ron in the ATR, Joey was the winner of the Open Division.
Which Pacer races will be Grand Prix races during the year is decided at the June board meeting and announced in the newsletter, also the races are denoted GP on this board's Race Schedule. Usually the number is between 12 and 16. Race walkers tend to have a slightly different schedule of Grand Prix races so race walkers should check with Dave or Monetta to see which races are Grand Prix.
Please note that there is no relationship between Corporate Cup (which is not conducted by the Pacers) and the Grand Prix.
