Your idea sounds like a good one. If it saves the cost of trophies for one race a year that would be worth it. I am not volunteering for the job of removing the little engraved plates and glueing the new ones on though.

When I get old and give up like you, I plan on removing the little plates from my less impressive wins and putting them on one plaque in chronological order. The more impressive achievements will be left intact. The more impressive trophies will be relabeled as "Overall Winner, tarring the likes of Leif".
