Brent, I think the money going back into the organization is a good idea.
I am most happy to give to charity or whatever....but for example; I have not received and do not think the Pacer Board has received a Thank You from the DI fire and rescue for the proceeds from the Hurricane Run. The Fire Chief told me the department was not really concerned with getting a lot of money from the event. I also believe a number of the Gulf Coast Runners races are not for charity, the money goes to the organization for club expenses and a yearly schlorship. As I recall the ATR was a big money making event when it was first implemented and none went to charity. It might be worth a call to some of the guys who started it all...like Charlie Christmas, Dr. Beard or Richard Dorman. I am sure they have some very good advice.
