I inherited a wonderful squirrel proof bird feeder when we moved into our last house in Mobile. The key to this feeder was that the pole and the climbing blocker thingy was metal, not plastic. In my experience with storing chicken feed, squirrels treat plastic like newspaper. They can tear through it in a heartbeat. Now I have a metal trashcan that stores my chicken feed and a metal blocker thingy on my bird feeder and the birds in my life are very happy. Good luck!
