At the risk of catalyzing an on-line debate, I'll offer up this opinion: I really think that there are too many races on the calendar already. I think that, just like with many other situations, you can have too much of a good thing and that, in this relatively small market, many races suffer to break even when there are races almost every weekend. I think many good races would benefit from a reduction in the race calendar. I think the group is stretched too far and that there are only two ways to address that:
1. Get more volunteers (easy to say, harder to accomplish)
2. Reduce and/ or limit the number of races the group takes responsibility for.
This is the viewpoint I expressed during my limited (and admittedly dissapointingly underinvolved) term as a board member and I continue to maintain the same viewpoint as a club member (OK, OK, my membership expired a couple of months ago but I will renew it before the next season starts, I promise).
