My wife Jean and I came in from north of Semmes, it's about a 35 minute drive but when we got there we were overjoyed that the race had been cancelled.
Jean has probably voluteered at 250 races over the last 25 years. Believe me when the weather is bad, the volunteers who are working the finish line and out on the course take a real beating. Today was shaping up to be another day like the infamous Turkey 10 miler in which we had a lot of runners and volunteers sick after the race, some suffering from hypothermia, Jean included. We learned a lot from that race and I congratulate the race director and staff for acting responsibly.
