Kevin, many of your suggestions have been implemented. We have had the deputies work on in-town races (Guns and Hoses 5K). Other races may consider this too.
As far as courses, I have certified courses in most of the areas you mention. There are two on USA campus, two at Langan Park, one on Spring Hill campus and another on the Causeway starting and ending in Battleship Park. I am also in the process of measuring one at Brookley near the golf course. My main complaint about most of these courses is that they have many turns and/or multiple loops due to more confined spaces. I think this makes for slower times. I know this is not a major concern but I would like to have a few courses on flat courses with few turns (Joe Cain, Jingle Bell etc).
