Vince: I have been in charge of the fun run since it began over 20+ years ago. We have always recognized the top three male and female runners with some kind of award, even if it was only their names in the paper. However, when the School Program began there were so many runners that had no knowledge of true running that we had to utilize a "human wall" at the start to prevent injuries. I agree that records are set and need to be recognized, but there is a "rolling start" in place and that time is kept on my watch (very unofficial. The purpose of the two mile and the one mile runs are to promote "fun" and encourage the youth and those beginning to run in the Mobile area to continue their journies. Your suggestions are welcome and certainly will be taken into consideration as we plan for the 30th ATR.
